"You will be for me a kingdom

of priests and a holy nation."

Exodus 19:6a
Rooted in the Anabaptist movement, at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, we believe that community is central to faith in Jesus Christ. We are called to come alongside one another in mutual support, accountability and love. Thus, we affirm that we are called to be in relationship not only with Jesus Christ, but through Jesus Christ we are to be in relationship with one another and our larger community both as salt and as light. In this way, our faith is not simply an intellectual pursuit, but a life that is lived as well as a love that is expressed.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The HMC Prayer Shawl Ministry was organized in January of 2006 to knit and crochet shawls not only for those who are going through a difficult time, but also celebratory events:
  • illness
  • death loss
  • discouragement
  • new baby
  • baptism

The shawls are prayed over individually as we make them and also as a group upon completion. We welcome our church family to request shawls for anyone they feel needs this encouragement and support. We rely on donations for yarn.

Artist-In-Residence Program
Hutterthal Mennonite Church has established an ongoing working relationship with visual artist and Hutterthal member, Michelle L Hofer. This relationship uniquely and specifically aims to more fully incorporate the visual arts into the life and ministry of the church in accordance with Hutterthal Mennonite Church’s overall vision to be Christ-centered – Living, Relating, Serving.

In cooperation with the HMC deacon board and by the Spirit’s leading, Michelle works to:
  • incorporate varied forms of visual art into the worship setting in cooperation with the Worship Committee
  • guide and engage worshippers in new understandings of the relationship between art and faith and the ability of art to serve as a mode of communication between man and Creator
  • provide opportunities to involve members of the congregation in the design and display of artworks in both worship and fellowship settings
  • organize and coordinate special art-centered events that engage church attendees and seek to enhance their Christian walks:
    • exhibits
    • talks
    • receptions
    • workshops
    • Bible studies
    • retreats
