Palm Sunday

Call to Worship

Leader: Come, people of God, this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day Jesus enters Jerusalem.

People: Open the gates of righteousness so that we can enter and give thanks to the Lord.

Leader: The gates are open, come on in. Give thanks, for God is good!

Scripture                                       John 12: 12-16  (Page #569  In Pew Bible)

Sermon                                                                       Candor

Jesus, Messiah. The crowds around you can be thrilling, or frightening.

One moment they are clay in your hands, ready to be shaped. The next they are squeezing you, like putty in a clenched fist, demanding that you conform. Is that what we do? When we count the cost of your words for us, it hurts. We get it, why the masses turned and your disciples faded away. Do you?  The time is ripe for change, then and now. Why can’t you lead that change in a way we understand? How is it that you define success so differently? It scares us to question you. It’s worse if we don’t. Forgive us for holding in questions so long that we can’t bear the answers. Forgive us for fearing the crowds, and the consequences.
Open our eyes and hearts to receive your teaching. Show us again this new way of living. Help us to love like you.

Words of assurance

Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.”

Save The Date!! VBS has been scheduled for May 28– June 1.

VBS needs you!! This summer VBS children will get carried away on a current of God’s love as we learn about how “Jesus Saves” as we’re “Shipwrecked” on a remote island.

As we prepare to cast our sail for VBS 2018 we are looking for a few items to borrow.

A collapsible shelter/tent. This will be returned to you just as you lent it to us. If you have one that has been left out for to many winters we’ll take that too!

Old used umbrellas, spokes sticking out are just fine!

Round life preservers, metal buckets, and boat oars. The older the better and will be returned to you.

Sturdy boxes, the bigger the better.

Old camping lanterns (will not be ignited or used other than as a prop), plastic or live house plants with long/wide leaves. These also will be returned to you.

Quilting squares or fabric you no longer want.

Donations either of your time or monetarily are greatly appreciated.

Pray for the directors, volunteers and for the children attending that they may rescued by the word of the Lord!

Rural Revival will hold its monthly meeting at 8 pm at the Freeman Public Library on Monday, March 26. Come see what we’re all about!

The Hmong Mennonite Church of St. Paul invites you to a fundraising meal on Saturday, April 21. The meal will be served at Salem-Zion Mennonite with serving to begin at 5:30 p.m. The goal is to raise funds to extend the stay of Pastor Xeng and his family. Please join us for an evening of really good food and fellowship.  RSVP to or 925-7771 by Friday, April 13.
